About FRES

The Fisher Real Estate Society (FRES) is a student organization created to promote careers in the real estate industry and foster academic programming at the Fisher College of Business. FRES allows students to network with faculty, alumni, professionals and recruiters in the real estate industry. Membership includes graduate and undergraduate Fisher students.

The 2006/2007 academic year was the Fisher Real Estate Society’s second year in operation. Our goals for furthering the organization include:

  • Creating an all-encompassing organization open to all students attending The Ohio State University, including Business, Law, Engineering, Architecture, Undergraduates, Graduates and Construction Management.
  • Improving academic programming by created a Real Estate Development Major for the Fisher College of Business MBA program.
  • Creating a sustainable network of real estate professionals through sponsored networking events.
  • Expanding FRES programs to educate future leaders about the multiple facets of the real estate industry and the depth of career opportunities available.

Our faculty advisor is Paul Weinstock. Professor Weinstock teaches a variety of business courses, as well as preparation courses for graduate school admission tests and team-building and interpersonal skills in corporate training seminars. He has written a textbook chapter on property law. He has also co-edited the State of Ohio Real Estate Training Manual. Prior to teaching, Professor Weinstock practiced law for 10 years and was a mortgage banker for three years. He is currently a commercial real estate agent.
